Newton Community Pride

The mission of Newton Community Pride is to build community through free and accessible arts and culture programing, public art, beautification projects and volunteerism.

About Us

Founded by volunteers in 1989, Newton Community Pride (NCP) is a non-profit organization supported solely by our community business partners, individual donors and grant opportunities.  Some highlights of our prior initiatives include the city wide public art exhibits Newton OutDoors and Sit and Let Your Spirit Soar, the Artful Piano Project,  Al Fresco Dining painted jersey barriers and bistro tables, as well as The Linda Plaut Festival of the Arts, the Fall Village Concert Series and caring for the award winning gardens in Newton Center and in the Highlands .

Since 2020, when Covid 19 impacted the arts community, NCP pivoted and expanded its mission to include public art initiatives, community micro grants and a high school scholarship fund to our portfolio of impactful programs supporting and engaging our community.  In addition, it remains committed to our historical support to community programming sponsored by the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department. In 2022, NCP gave close to $35,000 in community grants to amplify and support the varied and talented arts community in the he City of Newton.

Newton Community Pride is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a 14-member board of directors led by Chair, Gloria Gavris. and staffed by Blair Lesser Sullivan, Executive Director.
